MOTHERS DAY FISHING REPORT
Capt. Jody Donewar New Orleans / Empire / Buras, LA USA TODAY WAS A SPECIAL DAY TO ME & A WONDERFUL LADY WHOM I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE TO KNOW & GUIDE FOR THE PAST 11 YEARS! Leone Goldsmith, now 101 years old , was on board with son Jimmy & daughter-in-law Robin today. The Goldsmith family found me 11 years ago when Ms. Leone was 90 years old and have been fishing with me every year since. Today was not about catching a hundred fish. It was about giving a special lady that has loved to fish her entire life, a very Happy Mothers Day. We left out of the Delta Marina in Empire , LA early this morning knowing it was going to be a windy day. I made the decision to keep Ms. Leone in protected waters and to fish for Redfish . Using live shrimp under a popping cork we got on a good redfish bite in two locations. With great assistance from my deckhand Heather, we were able to get Ms. Leone, Jimmy, & Robin hooked up on some beautiful Redfish as we boated and boxed 17 Redfish, 4 Speckled Trout , and 1 flounder . Ms. Leone was tired as we made our way back to the marina at about noon, but I know she had one of the best Mothers Day ever. Special thanks to my deckhand Heather for a job well done as usual! I also want to thank Capt. John Lemle, Run N Gun Outfitters, for helping me plan my route of redfishing today to insure Ms. Leone a great Mothers Day.
